EventsIt is Virginia State law that children under age 8 to use an appropriate child safety seat when riding in a motor vehicle. Safe Kids Central Shenandoah Valley works to prevent unintentional injuries in children 14 and under for child passenger safety. We now have a full-time person in Harrisonburg to assist in car seat installations. This position is funded by Rockingham Memorial Hospital, WHSV - TV3, and the City of Harrisonburg and works out of the Harrisonburg Fire Department Station 1. In addition to our safety programs, Safe Kids Central Shenandoah Valley has booster seats available for a limited number of families who cannot afford one. For information on upcoming safety seat checks or how to obtain a booster seat for a family in need contact Cathy Stewart at 540-810-0527.
