ALICE Challenge

November 4th-8th, 2019

Why take on a challenge?

ALICE faces everything from food insecurity, to transportation instability, to struggling to have a clean set of clothes to wear every day and so much more. ALICE faces tough choices when their budget just doesn't cover all the bases, choices like spending the last of their paycheck on shoes for work or food for their family. By joining the challenge, you raise awareness of the staggering amount of people in our community who struggle with tough decisions every day. Hunger and instability span across all races, ages, genders, locations, and education levels. Life can be unexpected and unpredictable and programs like the ones United Way supports are created to help people through the tough times and get back on their feet.

What can you do to raise awareness and support for neighbors?
I am doing the ALICE Challenge because...:
Which of the challenges below are you going to complete?:
Food: Eat on a SNAP budget ($6 per person per day)
Clothes: Wear the same set of clothes all week
Travel: Reduce your transportation options (go down to one car instead of two or take the bus)
Laundry Use the laundromat instead of your own washer and dryer
Tech: Eliminate use of internet and data outside of work hours
